A really fun summer. My first real internship, spent in a hybrid model commuting to Toronto twice a week. I learned a lot regarding how work is done in the industry, with multiple different teams and moving parts. This was also my first experience with formal code review, which was humbling but very insightful.
Had a nice time experincing Toronto as a working class individual, and picked up rock climbing as a new hobby! Overall my best summer yet.
What I Did
- Built Integration Tests
- Wrote PostgreSQL queries for API end points
- Developed regular cron jobs to sync up data between development teams
- Met lots of amazing engineers and co-interns :)
What I Learned
- Kotlin
- PostgreSQL and GraphQL, especially in professional settings (lots of data!)
- Agile principles
- Ticketing services such as Jira
- AdTech and Retail Media Networks
